3 News Stories that Prove the Importance of AC
Air conditioning is nearly universal in the United States. There isn’t a department store, hotel or office out there that doesn’t use it, but Vox News reminds us that for the first 100 years of AC’s existence, nobody wanted to use it.
People were slow to see the benefit of installing an air conditioner in their homes and businesses, and society viewed the invention as a novelty that was sure to quickly fade away. As soon as the technology began to catch on, the depression hit, and no one had the money for luxuries. Now, AC is a must-have, especially in desert cities like Las Vegas. Of course, every machine requires maintenance and fine-tuning to continue working properly.
At Royal Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning, we offer a simple, straightforward service. If you need maintenance, we can get you on a schedule. If you need a second opinion, we’ll provide one for free. If you have an AC emergency, we’re available to fix it 24 hours per day. Call us at 702-645-3000.
1. AC Makes Community Outreach Programs Possible
There are Boys and Girls Clubs all over the country, and they offer children a place to go after school where they will experience positive influences and learn life skills. The program is incredibly successful and keeps at-risk kids away from drugs and crime, but that’s not always easy to do when the temperatures are high during the summer.
The Four States Home Page reports that one Boys and Girls Club didn’t have AC to cool its gym facility and had to turn children away during the summer because the facility became too hot. Now, the facility is using a grant to install an AC unit that will allow them remain open all year.
2. Woman Gets AC for the First Time in 20 Years
Two decades ago, Carol Simpson and her husband retired. The 86-year-old says that finances were tight, and when the AC broke, they couldn’t fix it. Instead, she’s suffered through the summers since 1995. KTAR News reports that a local community program bought and installed a new AC unit in her home for free. She was overjoyed to have AC again.
3. Thief Steals Two Air Conditioners
The first two stories demonstrated that community outreach depends on air conditioners, but the next story proves that the importance of AC doesn’t come without pitfalls. Lancaster Online reports that police are looking for a man that they say is stealing air conditioners. Authorities haven’t released details on the first theft, but investigators say he loaded a second unit into a minivan before driving away.
If you are looking for quality AC at a great price in Las Vegas, you don’t have to steal it!
